Power of $5 Fundraising Campaign

POWER OF $5
Vinegrass Annual Giving Campaign

What is the Power of $5?

We have created a micro-affordable fundraising campaign to raise money for our scholarships, grants and outreach programs.  If everyone on our mailing list and social media followers were to donate $5 we would raise over $10,000. Do we think this is realistic? Not really, it would be cool, but we are setting a goal of $5,000 between now and the end of 2016.

We have a commitment to providing live, affordable music on Cape Cod and that is why we are asking for micro-affordable donations. It is easier to give $5 bucks then $100, and even though it may seem like a small amount, the goal is to make it easy and painless for more people to be able to give during the Season of Giving without breaking the bank.

The money raised will ensure our scholarship program which is in its 3rd year. This is not just a one time scholarship, our recipients will receive the scholarship for all 4 years.  We also believe that Ukuleles should be in every elementary school as a music education tool.  I mean who plays the recorder anyways?  In Nova Scotia, the ukulele has been the center of music education since the 1970's and everyone knows how amazing the Canadian musicians are.  We will be approaching schools to help develop this program and be purchasing the Ukuleles. Our goal is to have Ukuleles in every elementary public school on Cape Cod.

So if you have an extra $5 you can share with us we promise to continue bringing live, affordable music to Cape Cod and being a resource for our children through music.  To date we have given over $15,000 as we work to our goal of awarding $20,000/year.

Thank you for all the support and we hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends, and of course music!!!

Mark Erelli "For a Song" CD Release 4/28 @ O'Shea's

Jeffrey Foucault w/ Caitlin Canty 12.6.15 Harwich Junior Theatre

On October 16th, 2015 Jeffrey Foucault will release SALT AS WOLVES – his fifth collection of original songs and tenth full-length studio album. Cut live to tape in just three days in rural Minnesota, SALT AS WOLVES moves like a vintage Chess record: a tough, spare collection of darkly rendered blues and ballads, twelve tracks that exist out of time, like a field recording of a place that never existed. In a series of letters to lovers, friends, heroes, and family, Foucault deftly weaves together disparate strands of sound and experience, raw love, and hard wisdom.

Featuring his long-time tour partner Billy Conway on drums, SALT AS WOLVES reunites Jeffrey with legendary electric guitar player Bo Ramsey (who produced his 2006 album, Ghost Repeater), and Cold Satellite bassist Jeremy Moses Curtis. Caitlin Canty – whose breakout 2015 release Reckless Skyline Jeffrey produced and played on – sings all the backing vocals. In language richly simple and profound Foucault plumbs the implications of a life spent looking for the real, in a series of epistolary songs that locate the transcendent moment or its seeking, the love we don’t understand, the thing that’s lost when a great spirit dies.

Vinegrass has partnered with WOMR to bring back one of our favorite bands on November 12 at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, Parsonsfield.

Parsonsfield is a five-piece Americana band from Connecticut that infuses a rowdy, rock-'n'-roll spirit into its bluegrass and folk influences, blowing away any preconception of what you think banjos and mandolins should sound like.

Mark Erelli

O'Shea's Olde Inn, 348 Main Street/Route 28, West Dennis, MA

We have known Mark Erelli for years, but we finally have got him right where we want him. There are shows and then there are Vinegrass shows, intimate events produced by musicians who create an atmosphere where the artist has as much if not more fun than the audience.

Mark Erelli’s artistry resides where honeyed vocals and emotionally literate poetry intersect with accomplished and intuitive musicianship. Inspired by Jackson Browne and John Hiatt, as well as by consummate sidemen like Ry Cooder and David Lindley, Erelli has nurtured an elegantly rural aesthetic that permeates all facets of his creativity. In addition to being able to shift between his various creative roles, Erelli has been able to make meaningful and authentic statements in a variety of roots music-based settings, including western swing, murder ballads, bluegrass, folk, lullabies, and country rock.

A master at the art of appearing to be everywhere all of the time, Erelli has performed in church basement coffeehouses, Fenway Park, the Newport Folk Festival, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and the Grand Ole Opry. In a supportive creative role, he has accompanied such artists as Lori McKenna, Josh Ritter, and Grammy™ Award-winning songwriter Paula Cole, among others. Out front, he is the singer of the bluegrass outfit Barnstar!, and a highly acclaimed solo artist with a 15-year career that spans nine albums. Tastemakers Twangville.com have heralded Erelli the solo artist as “the male counterpart to Neko Case.

Slaid Cleaves

O'Shea's Olde Inne, 348 Main Street, West Dennis, MA

Slaid Cleaves. Grew up in Maine. Lives in Texas. Writes songs. Travels around. Tries to be good.

Vinegrass is honored to welcome the storied singer/songwriter to O'Shea's Olde Inne, celebrating 175 years of music in the house that love built. Cleaves is no stranger to the road and will grace the intimate and fortunate crowd with songs spun from stories that will stay in the beams of the Olde Inne long into the winter.

The famous author, Stephen King, sums up Slaid Cleaves quite simply,

"I'm glad I found Slaid Cleaves, because my life would have been poorer without him. You'll feel the same. Listen, go to one of Slaid's shows, take a friend, and pass on the news: Not all the good guys wear hats."

Doors open at 6pm for dinner and pints. This will be a STRICTLY listening audience, so if you can not keep quiet out of respect for the other audience members and the performers please just download their music online and make all the noise you want.
